Purple Clay Tea Pitcher
The Purple Clay Tea Pitcher is made from purple clay and ideal for serving semi-fermented teas such as Oolong, King's, Pouchong, and Ti Kuan Yin. The pitcher helps to serve the same strength tea from cup to cup.
A teapot is first used to brew tea as the heated water is given time to steep the tea leaves. When the tea reaches the desired strength, the tea is transferred from the teapot to the tea pitcher to prevent over steeping. After the transfer, the tea has a consistent quality as the milder tea brewed from the top of the teapot mixes with the stronger tea brewed from the bottom. As one enjoys the tea served from the tea pitcher, the teapot is available to brew more tea.
Yixing tea pitchers have a special characteristic. With repeated usage, this pot will acquire its own unique flavor and increased luster and coloring that contributes to the enjoyment of tea. After usage, rinse with hot water and avoid using soap and other scented products that may be absorbed by the clay. This teapot holds about 7.5 fluid ounces (225 ml). Shipping weight is 0.42 lbs.
