Description

Ten Ren's 1st Grade Green Tea is also known as Dragon and Phoenix Needles. This tea has the highest quality young and tender tea leaves grown in the high mountains of China. When it is harvested, great care is taken to choose only the freshly blossomed leaves and its bud of about 1.5 centimeter in length. Only leaves harvested in the early spring are used for this tea. The baking process uses charcoal as fuel instead of the more typical gas. The finished tea leaves have a clean plump look with white touches, thicker and plumper than others with very few stems. When steeped, these leaves produce a tea that has a light pleasing smell with a smooth taste and strong aftertaste. The hue of the tea is a bright greenish yellow. Some connoisseurs say that the brewed tea leaves look like dancing dragons.

The water used to steep this tea should be about 160-180°F or 70-80°C to prevent scalding the leaves. Use about 1 tablespoon (3 grams) of tea leaves for about every 5 ounces (150 ml) of water. A steeping time of about 3-5 minutes is recommended with more or less time depending on the desired concentration. As a rough guide, the higher the temperature of the water or the greater the amount of leaves used, the shorter the steeping time should be. The use of a covered glass or ceramic cup is recommended for steeping in order to appreciate the tea leaves. This tea may be infused 3 or more times. Net tea weight 4 ounces (113.4 g) and shipping weight 0.29 lb. Out of stock.
